In the golden age of French motoring, few names carried the same sense of elegance, performance and ambition as Talbot-Lago. In the early 1950s, the T26 Grand Sport represented the very best of French automotive engineering combining beautiful design and luxurious craftsmanship with a genuine racing spirit. The 1952 Talbot-Lago LM Barchetta was perhaps one of its most exciting expressions. Beneath its elegant open bodywork lay a potent 4.5-litre straight-six, developing around 170 hp in road-going form. With twin overhead camshafts and a four-speed manual gearbox (or the sophisticated Wilson pre-selector) it was capable of reaching around 170 km/h. This was a car destined for more than simply turning heads on the road. Later transformed into a dedicated racing machine, this Talbot-Lago LM Barchetta went on to compete on circuits around the world. Its striking rebody gave the car an even more purposeful character, while preserving the spirit and heritage of the original Talbot-Lago. It perfectly embodies the romance of historic motorsport: a rare combination of French elegance, mechanical sophistication and the thrill of a true racing machine.
